BRIEF HISTORY

Hunter Martin & Associates, Inc. is the area’s oldest land surveying and civil engineering firm still in operation.

Hunter H. Martin, Jr. and his wife, Dorothy Ann Goldman Martin, started Hunter Martin & Associates in August, 1952 in the living room of their home in McCracken County, Kentucky. In 1959, Mr. Martin purchased property on Lone Oak Road south of the City of Paducah. This location is the current site of Hunter Martin & Associates, Inc.

Mr. Martin’s career included:

Formation of numerous water and sewer districts throughout this area.

-Development of innovative and alternative types of wastewater treatment systems.

-Design of Kentucky’s first lagoon-type wastewater treatment process.

-A major role in developing many subdivisions in this area.

-Relocation of markers lost from old governmental surveys.

In 1973, Mr. Martin’s son, Rod H. Martin, joined the firm and is the current president of Hunter Martin & Associates, Inc.
